New Pope, Same Old Bigotry

The new pope may well be more humble, but is no less homophobic.

The height of irony is when the leader of the world’s largest (and still unrepentant) organised child abuse ring points fingers about child abuse. I guess they must be the default experts!

  1. Hi, there! I would just like to say that, as a Catholic, there is a difference between being homophobic and being against homosexual marriage. This pope whom you are insulting has been quoted saying: “Men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies must be accepted with respect and compassion.” I’m sorry, but I don’t find this phrase and your statement that he is homophobic to coexist. The pope, as an upholder of Catholic doctrine, is against homosexual marriage. This does not mean that he hates gay people. He loves them and treats them with respect and compassion just as any other person. The Catholic Church is a beautiful religion and I just thought I would mention this and allow you to see a different perspective. Thank you, and have a great day.

Women should be quiet in public and be completely subservient to her husband. They shouldn’t have jobs that puts then in a position of power over men. They shouldn’t vote either. But don’t get me wrong, I love women. I treat the with compassion and respect. But they should not have the same rights or additional rights over men. And none of my statements of “love” have any bearing on feeding any misogynist feelings out there. It’s all love…

I think in psychology, this sort of “I love you but I will deny you equal rights” is call sociopathy.

Not that I have any illusions of convincing you of course. As your faith is strong.
